Gardens By The Bay Part 1, OCBC Skyway01:52
Gardens By The Bay FTW (For The Win) hahahhaa. The very first time I came here was for Jason Mraz concert with Xinyi, my secondary schoolmate whom I am still in touch with till now. This time going there again to experience the genuine experiences that I should have!
We were walking from Sands, Ronan had this crazy idea to ask me go in to the casino and try my luck. It was crazy because he didn't bring his passport, so I would be the only one going in. Where's the fun! I refused at first but he kept giving me the sian look. Fine. I went in. Each one of us took out $50 to bet. He asked me to just "all in" the money in either Banker or Player. Lose then be it, win then good. I scold him siao.
So in the end I spent 45 minutes (without me realising it) inside and won us a good $50 (don't be too greedy, it's a windfall, although not much. I always believe in this sentence "When you take something that doesn't belong to you, one day, the thing that value most to you would be taken away"). At the end of the day, the money that we had won covered all our ticket expenses in Gardens By The Bay (GBTB). Not so bad uh!
Can see that the weather aint that good, uh? We walked by the overhead bridge that links from the mall to MBS hotel and then to GBTB. When you go using that bridge, you will notice that at the end of the bridge there is this good spot to take picture with the whole of GBTB as your background photo. Here is the result:
We stayed there from afternoon till 9pm! So here are some pictures of GBTB during the day and night:
Decided to pamper ourselves to the Skyway! We really enjoyed it very much! You should go for it! I used to be quite skeptical about paying the amount just to go up and walk that "hanging bridge". After experiencing it myself, I would really say, go up. It's worth it. You would easily spend that amount of money on other stuffs. Why not spending it to treat your eyes to the beauty of this universe?
Right after we've stepped out of the lift, it started to drizzle. 3 minutes after that, there was a heavy downpour. I was so angry and disappointed cause the ticket would have gone to waste (I thought). In the end do you know what happened?
We were ushered back down to the entrance to wait for the rain to stop. However, not wanting us to be stucked there, one of the staff ran out (without an umbrella in her hand) to take an umbrella from the ticketing booth opposite and then ushered us one by one to the place opposite where it would lead to Flower Dome, Cloud Forest or the restaurant (all sheltered). While she "shelter us" with the only umbrella, she herself was drenched in the rain as she only covers us.
Before that, they explained to us that we could try coming back a little later in the evening if the rain ever stop. Otherwise they would be extending the date on the ticket for 7 days from the date stated so we can come back again for a proper visit. Now this is what I called good service and great sense of responsibility.
It's not their fault that it's raining, but it's not ours too. I think the way they handle this situation is very good. Though the ticket is just merely $5, they didn't turn their responsibility away and say "We do not take responsibility in case of rain". They could do that! A lot of other attractions in Singapore are taking that kind of stand, but they are not.
It's really a nice experience. Luckily the rain stopped after our trip to Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. I was a little scared when we went up there as the skyway was shaking. I don't have height phobia, just some trust issues. Hahahha. I was not sure that the Skyway really could take the weight of everyone. I was so worried that it would snap and fall (my imagination).
Overall it's really nice. If you ask me whether I would go up again, I would say YES. And the next time I go up there, I want to be braver than I was the last visit. I want to fully enjoy the view without worrying about the Skyway falling lol.
